Molly Lavik is currently a professor for Vatel Los Angeles International School, teaching courses on the subjects of Eco Tourism and New Trends in Hospitality Management and eMarketing. She is a former practitioner faculty of Marketing for Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management.
Lavik is also the founder and CEO of Mentorography, Inc. Mentorography, Inc. is an Internet media company dedicated to inventing a better world today by inspiring young adults to create socially-responsible new ventures and content. Mentorographies impart the insights, driving philosophies and lessons learned of the socially-minded entrepreneur regarding their startup journey.

Lavik’s previous work experience includes a decade of experience in the hospitality industry as PR Manager for Westin Hotels & Resorts as well as Director of Communications for The Westin Mission Hills Resort in Rancho Mirage, California. Lavik also held a variety of Public Relations management positions for The Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles where she played a role in helping establish The Westin Bonaventure as one of the ten most photographed buildings in the world ranked just after the Eiffel Tower. After leaving The Westin Bonaventure, Lavik started her own marketing agency and had hospitality clients that included: The Los Angeles Convention & Visitors Bureau, DoubleTree Hotel Corporation and Marriott Hotels.

In addition to her hospitality industry experience, Lavik has provided marketing and strategic development services for many companies including Microsoft, DreamWorks SKG and The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She was also a pioneer of the economic development of the digital media industry which led to her current work with helping early-stage entrepreneurs create meaningful startup enterprises.
Lavik has dedicated her career toward helping others find their true potential and purpose through her consulting, company and coaching.

 

COURSE INTRODUCTION

Eco Tourism, also known as Sustainable Hospitality Management is part of a rapidly growing industry in the United States known as the LOHAS industry. The LOHAS industry is a multi-billion dollar industry that stands for Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability. In this course we will study closely Eco Tourism by students forming teams and actually creating from scratch and Eco Tourism project of your own. Please see the Eco Tourism Project Outline for more details. Additionally this course will delve deeply into new emerging trends in the hospitality industry including:
• Privatization of Airports
• Medical and Space Tourism
• The Guest Room of the Future
• Sustainable Hotel Architecture
• The Use of Social Networks for Hospitality Marketing Purposes
At the conclusion of this course students will have learned valuable insights and skills that will enable you to position yourself as a potential Hospitality Sustainability Officer and or market research expert in hospitality trend analysis.
